Taller del Maestro Pizzero, in which  our students themselves, prepare their own pizzas with some special ingredients given by Domino´s Pizza.
 It was really fun!

The White Daisy

It´s well known that children can learn important things and values through stories. The last month, Ponies were working on nature and plants: they worked in groups to create a big flower, they planted their own seed and decorated their flowerpots, too.
Finally we decided to tell them a story, "The White Daisy", a beautiful story about a little seed and how it grows.
It was a good way to check the previous vocabulary and review all the contents we had worked.
Here you are... Hope you enjoy it at home Ponies!!

Traffic Rules for Children

Parents and children have to deal with traffic all the time. Teaching children how to interpret street signs and signals, is the first rule of a good parenting. They should know what the lights and words mean, but they should also learn to take precautions.

Start teaching your children about traffic rules at school is a must: children have to learn to be aware not only when they're crossing the street, but also, when they're on foot with their parents, or riding their bikes. If we begin telling our kids to stop at red lights while they are still very young, they'll probably have the message memorized by the time they venture out on their own.
Therefore, if we want to keep our children safe, let´s practise the traffic rules all the time!

¡Bienvenidos a bordo!

Teaching our children "Teamwork"

Being part of a team is not only related to sports, especially in early years. Our children engage in lots of activities that require teamwork. In class, they are usually asked to work on projects in pairs or in groups and, they play games which require them to make teams.

Also, teamwork brings many benefits for life because it helps develop social skills in our children: listening to others’ opinions and ideas, conflict resolution, motivating others, and even supporting them.

All these things help your kids make friends at school and at home. Sociable kids are usually popular kids and teamwork is a big part of that.

The only way our children can find the success they deserve in life is having the ability to work with others. They will achieve their goals in life faster and more easily when they get help from those around them.

Healthy Eating for Children

Dear parents,

For young children, eating healthy food is not as easy as you may think. What they want - cookies, sodas, French fries, lollipops, fast junk food - is the easy option. Getting them to eat healthier can be difficult, and takes time but worth it. Starting early with a variety of good food is the best way, fruit and vegetables are very important in a family diet. Also school meals must promote healthy eating.

Last week Ponies learnt about food, fruit, vegetables and some differences between them. Children realized what kind of food they eat every day during the break time, at home and, how important is to eat healthy food in first place.

Today, Ponies made a delicious fruit salad. Everybody wants to peel, cut and mix the fruit, some children eat it with yogurt and others with cereals, but they really loved the activity. Hope you can do it again at home.

Always remember “Good healthy nutrition is the foundation for good behaviour”
Thanks a lot for your cooperation !!! :)

Welcome Back!!!

My dear Ponies:

It feels so good to have you back!! My classroom is not the same without you...
Today I just want to say hello to all of you and say WELCOME BACK PONIES!.
I hope you are refreshed and full of energy for all the activities I’ve already prepared just for you. I´m sure this semester will be great and I hope you enjoy it as much as I will do.
I´m very glad to have you all here again in our school !!

Maths in our Daily Life

Maths is not only numbers, it also involves other basic math concepts including measuring, weighing, counting and estimating. Children will have more success in Math if they are comfortable with it in the real world.
Engaging a child with simple Math activities and games will provide the building blocks for later mathematical success. Without needing special materials or a lot of time, a parent can integrate these easy activities into a child's daily routine.
Here you can check some activities to put into practice basic mathematical thinking skills.

Comparing objects: When you play with your child, mention that a certain ball is bigger than another and ask them to find the biggest ball. Mention that this bowl has more cookies, or that cup has less juice. Parents should talk about which toys are heavier or lighter, etc.
Reading Books With Math Themes

The books read to a child should include Math themed books. Not only counting books, also simple stories as Goldilocks, Little red riding Hood, or The Three Little Pigs have some important basic concepts that children need to learn about.
Point Out The Numbers In Everyday Life
No matter where children go, numbers are all around them. Children will realize how important numbers are if a parent casually mentions the numbers that are around them. Mention the bus, house, and elevator floor numbers. Draw attention to the fact that the clock will illuminate a particular number before a favorite television show is on.

New English Sounds

 New English Sounds

This week we learnt about a new sound, the letter "M" sound, and children made many activities about it.  We sang and performanced "Five little monkeys" in order to remember  some words from the vocabulary, and practice this new sound. Also we trace the letter "M" in the air, using our fingers first and then we built the letter with some sticks, while they were singing another song with the "M" sound.
Finally, we made use of Smart board playing a game online, so like this we reviewed all the sounds of the letters A, O, M that we have learnt until now. I´d like to share a video and some photos about it. I hope you enjoy it!

During the classes...

Thanks for visiting our blog again. This time, I’d like to tell you about some activities that we have tried these weeks. As you know, school is our second home. We’re a new family now, and as a family we needed to talk about the classroom rules first. We created our own “Golden rules” and I hang them up on the wall to remind everyone.
In math, we explored colours, shapes and sizes.
In English we practiced the vocabulary through games and songs. They were learning English without even realising it. Also in Science we learnt about parts of the body by drawing our outline lying on the floor and colouring them according to the instructions

My First Steps...

Our first days were the best! We met new friends, shared many toys and played many games together. Also, we learnt interesting things in our computing classes, sang many songs during our music classes, and had fun activities in our P.E. classes.
I´m so glad to have these new kids and spend all my days with them, knowing each other, learning and playing together.
Hope you can enjoy this blog as much as Ponies do. Please, leave us a comment...Thanks a lot!
